The Interlock is one of a variety of techniques that fall under the umbrella of Hair Extension.

What is the difference between an Interlock and a Hair Weave?

The difference between an Interlock and a traditional Hair Weave is that the Interlocking technique integrates existing and loose human hair whereas a tradtional hair weave uses existing hair sewn onto a weft (hair that has been sewn onto a strip of fabric). The Interlock results in a more natural, smooth, free-flowing appearance. Furthermore, clients often state that the Interlock does not feel like a cap and allows the hair to breath versus a tradtional hair weave.

How long does the Interlock last?

An Interlock can last from 2-3 months, depending on the rate of hair growth and the quality of aftercare.

How can I care for my Interlock?

Generally, you can treat your Interlocked hair as if it is your own (i.e. styling, athletics, etc.). When shampooing, gently massage your scalp along the braid furrows. To condition your hair and scalp use a leave in conditioner. You can moisturize your hair and scalp using your favorite liquid oils. You should always avoid forceful pulling of the hair.

Does the quality of the hair matter?

Absolutely, quality is everything. You want the hair to project a natural luster, tangle-free, flowing effect. If you buy cheap hair, the Interlock will look cheap.

What quality brands of hair does Done Up! recommend?

We recommend excellent brands such as Lugo Hair, Adorable Hair, Sensational Hair, Outre' Hair and Shake-N-Go Hair. To minimize run-around time for our clients, Done Up! typically provides hair for Interlock appointments.
